Dora's Hope - Choice Centered Medicaid

We the undersigned acknowledge that;

In 2006, Joseph Stango of Southbury Connecticut asked his state legislature to pass a program called Money Follows the Person (MFP) so that he could bring his mother home from a nursing home. Since then, Stango has asked Connecticut to create a choice-centered Medicaid plan that would allow individuals and their families to determine where they will live out their lives: in a nursing home or at home among their loved ones.

I support Mr. Stango's efforts to reform our national Medicaid plan from an institutionally biased plan to a choice-centered Medicaid program. In doing so we would,

A) Save taxpayers up to 60% of the cost of institutionalized care by allowing families to continue to care for one another at home or in another community setting

B) Cut the growth rate of our Medicaid program by 30%.

C) Create 1.2 million new jobs in the health care industry.

D) Allow all Americans to continue living and being cared for within the framework of our "unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Furthering the cause for freedom so that all people, despite their age or level of disability, could continue to pursue their dreams, and remain an active member of society.
